Hawaiian Vacation for Two!

Where Culture Meets the Sea

In the midst of this tropical paradise, unique cultural experiences await, ones that offer a truly spectacular glimpse into the incredibly diverse art being created right here in Hawai‘i and around the world.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea
Immerse yourself in the Hawaiian culture and community by taking the complimentary walking tour of Four Seasons Resort's new museum-quality art collection. Complete with a podcast audio tour of selected works; admire one of the state's largest collections of contemporary Hawaiian fine art displayed throughout the property. More than 280 original pieces of art, including paintings, sculptures, photography, master works on paper, ceramics, textiles, artifacts, wood vessels and feather lei from Hawai‘i artists have been hand picked by fine arts curator Julie Cline. The collection encompasses works from Hawai‘i's statehood in 1959 to present day. All of the artists were either born in Hawai‘i; lived or worked here at some point in their lives. Their work has been greatly influenced by not only their own cultures, but by the ancient traditions and creative talents of the Hawaiians.

Four Seasons invites you to spend time and feel the artists' stories come alive, unfolding gently and completely throughout the entire property. Docents lead complimentary guided tours every Friday at 3pm. Tour brochures and iPods are available from the concierge desk.

The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa
Situated on 40 beautifully manicured acres, The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa is an international cultural center for both the island community and visitors alike. Original paintings, sculpture, graphics, murals and artifacts are displayed throughout the lush grounds and in the Napua Gallery. Their private collection boasts works of internationally renowned artists such as Fernando Botero, Fernand Leger, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. The spectacular Botero Bar in the main lobby is a must see for art lovers. It is surrounded by nine of Botero's immense, sensual sculptures that achieve the perfect balance of elegance and humor.

The flavor of Hawai‘i and the art of the Pacific are also represented by many of the finest contemporary local artists such as Yvonne Cheng. For more than 20 years Cheng has been a familiar figure in the art world of Hawai‘i. Cheng's batiks are found in every major public collection in the islands and her contribution to the rich heritage of island art is evident everywhere.

The Artists in Residence program brings to life an artist's concept of Maui, whether it be in sculpture, pottery, watercolor, photography or oil paintings. Local artists display their works each Tuesday & Friday from 9:00am – 2:00pm in the Lobby near the Botero Bar. Maui Portrait Artist Kata Joos is also in the lobby each Wednesday from 8:00am – 12:30pm.
